Marshall Public Schools

How 21st century skills are being integrated in Marshall
  • Online classes
  • Technology being used to provide course material that may not normally be available
  • Teacher FTE and classroom needs being reduced by sharing courses taught by other schools through Southwest Service Co-op technology infrastructure
  • Using technology while learning traditional academic content
  • Self-discipline being taught through absence of traditional class-teacher model
Four online classes in 2008-2009
  • Term 1 – Introduction to Computer Programming using Visual Basic
  • Term 2 – '60s Literature
  • Term 3 – Personal Money Management
  • Term 4 – Web Authoring using HTML
Expansion in 2009-2010
  • New hybrid classes will also be taught
  • Mix traditional classes with online content
  • English 9 and English 11
  • Further integration of technology skills with curriculum at no real cost
